Only by being in a camp in the wild can you get the proper feel of Africa and only with patience and the aid of skilled guides and African trackers can you learn the excitement of following game on foot. To camp in the bush is a very different experience from the minibus, lodge safaris in the national parks - a blazing campfire at night and the noises from beyond. . . the chorus of crickets, frogs, nightjars, the scream of the hyrax and maybe the low rasping grunt of the leopard. The guide tells the stories while attentive camp staff serve drinks at sundown followed by sumptuous three course dinners.
