Sample Itinerary 1 KENYA UNDER CANVAS
12 Day Traditional Tented Safari |

| Day 1 Arrive Nairobi and met by Clive Lee; transfer to the NORFOLK HOTEL. Noon safari briefing and then a tour of Nairobi, which includes historic Nairobi, the Karen Blixen Museum, Giraffe Manor and the colourful City Market. Overnight at the NORFOLK HOTEL, luxury suite. Day 2 Early morning departure with Clive Lee to Samburu Game Reserve in the Northern Frontier Division of Kenya. Lunch at a settler's family farm in Nanyuki with a wonderful view of Mount Kenya on a clear day. Arrive in Samburu for tea and a late afternoon game viewing drive. Overnight at Clive Lees LUXURY TENTED CAMP on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River, OR permanent tented CAMP/LODGE. Day 3 and 4 Two days of game viewing in Samburu, Buffalo Springs or the Shaba National Reserves. These reserves are home to the unusual reticulated giraffe, the long-necked gerenuk, the Grevy's zebra and the ory'x. Your four-wheel drive Landrover will reach areas that minibuses dare not venture to for a view of the rare and quite magnificent greater kudu. There will also be a visit to a Samburu village. CAMP or LODGE. Day 5 After breakfast drive with Clive Lee, depart for Lake Nakuru National Park in the Great Rift Valley. Picnic lunch at the scenic Thompson falls, discovered by the missionary/explorer Joseph Thompson in 1887. Arrive at Lake Nakuru in time for afternoon game viewing drive to see black and white rhino, many of the big cats (lion, leopard, and cheetah) and the thousands of greater and lesser flamingos on the lakeshores. LAKE NAKURU LODGE Day 6 Early morning game drive followed by breakfast. Depart by road to Lake Naivasha, farther south in the Great Rift Valley. Arrive for lunch, followed by a boat trip to see hippo close up and the vast number of water birds around the lake. Also walk, escorted by Clive Lee, around Crescent Island, an animal sanctuary with no predators. View Burchell's zebra, waterbuck, giraffe and small gazelles. LAKE HOTEL Day 7 After breakfast depart by road with Clive Lee or charter aircraft (optional) for the famous Masai Mara National Reserve. After lunch in Clive Lee's luxury tented camp take the first of several game viewing drives. The open savannahs of the Mara are home to huge herds of wildebeest, zebra, cape buffalo and gazelles. Overnight in LUXURUY TENTED CAMP Day 8,9 and 10 Three full days of game viewing on the Masai Mara with the opportunity for game walks, escorted by Clive Lee and Masai Moran (warriors). Picnic lunch can be taken to the Mara River with its abundance of hippo and large crocodiles. The mara is famous for the annual migration of wildebeest in late July, August and September. It is also home to the big cats - especially lion, cheetah and spotted hyena. Overnight in CAMP Day 11 and 12 After breakfast drive or fly to Nairobi for further tours of the city, surrounding areas or souvenir shopping. Farewell dinner at the Carnivore Restaurant (optional), where zebra, giraffe and gazelle are served. NORFOLK HOTEL 'or transfer to airport and depart.

| Day 1 Arrive Nairobi and met by Clive Lee; transfer to the NORFOLK HOTEL. Noon safari briefing and then a tour of Nairobi, which includes historic Nairobi, the Karen Blixen Museum, Giraffe Manor and the colourful City Market. Overnight at the NORFOLK HOTEL, luxury suite Day 2 Morning private charter or drive to Arusha, Tanzania; drive to Gibbs Farm in the Crater Highlands followed by game viewing in Lake Manyara National Park.This park is famous for its tree-climbing lions and large elephant herds. GIBBS FARM Day 3 Morning drive around the rim of Ngorongoro Crater and into the vast plains of the Serengeti National Park. Picnic lunch overlooking Olduvai Gorge, the scene of Louis and Mary Leakeys important archaeological discoveries. Late afternoon game viewing drive in the Serengeti. Overnight in LUXURY TENTED CAMP Day 4,5 and 6 Three full days of game viewing in the Serengeti that is unequalled for its great natural beauty of rolling plains interspersed with huge outcrops of rocks. This is the home of large prides of lions and hyena packs that follow the herds of wildebeest, zebra and other gazelles/antelopes. It is also the place where the last remaining East African hunting dogs may be seen. CAMP OVERNIGHT Day 7 After breakfast drive to Ngorongoro Crater, arriving in time for lunch at a lodge on the crater's rim. Afternoon descent into the crater by Landrover and then several hours of game viewing on the crater floor. CRATER RIM LODGE Day 8 After breakfast descend again to the crater floor for a full day of game viewing in this unique wild environment. Here black maned lions, black rhino and herds of elephant are concentrated. Picnic lunch by a beautiful hippo pool with its variety of bird life. CRATER RIM LODGE Day 9/10 Morning drives to Arusha for return by private charter to Nairobi, or drive to Nairobi. Farewell dinner at the Carnivore Restaurant and transfer to airport for departure, or the option of overnight at the NORFOLK HOTEL.
